The challenge

Osind developed a wearable hand remobilization device to help stroke patients regain the ability to use their hands. After successful testing of a minimum viable product it was time to transfer the design from a prototype into an end use product. Ensuring patient comfort and safety during device use required meeting specific design specifications. These guidelines not only influenced the device’s design but also dictated the selection of materials and production methods.

Together with Osind we defined the specifications for the end use product. Using these specifications, we designed the final product and selected suitable materials, production technologies, and post-processing methods. The innovative nature of additive manufacturing allowed us to quickly iterate based on feedback from patients and physiotherapists. Ultimately, we produced an initial small series, ensuring the products met the required quality standards for clinical test trials.

The advantages

Reduced costs

We reduced the production costs by half.

One part

Consolidated the design and supply chain from 7 parts down to 1.

Increased productivity

Extended service lifetime of the gripper enhances productivity.

Easier to clean

The unique rounded top surface ensures better part cleanability.
